FULL DAY HANOI - OP 1 Full day city tour of Vietnam’s capital. Hanoi is a unique city with tree-lined boulevards, French colonial architecture, peaceful lakes and oriental temples. The city tour includes such sights as President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and house, the One Pillar Pagoda, the Fine Arts Museum and the Temple of Literature, Museum of Ethnology, the Lake of the Restored Sword and the Old Quarter. HANOI HALF DAY COOKERY CLASS - OP 2 Attend a special cooking class at the Hanoi’s famous Sofitel Metropole Hotel. The morning course starts with a walk, accompanied by the chef of the hotel’s Spices Garden Restaurant, to the local market where participants get a chance to learn all about Vietnamese ingredients. A cooking demonstration follows in the kitchen and everyone has the opportunity to play an active part. After the class lunch is served in the Spices Garden Vietnamese Restaurant to sample all the different dishes prepared during the demonstration. (L)
FULL DAY HALONG BAY EXCURSION - OP 3 Drive to Halong Bay in early morning. Enjoy the journey through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta and the scenery of rice fields, water buffalo and everyday Vietnamese village life. Arrive in Halong and board a private junk for a 5-hour cruise on the emerald green waters of Halong Bay, among the 3,000 spectacular limestone islands. Seafood lunch on board. Back to Halong for returning to Hanoi. Arrive in Hanoi in around 19:00 in the evening. (L)
FULL DAY HOA LU - OP 4 Transfer to site of Vietnam’s first capital, Hoa Lu. Visit the remaining sanctuaries of the ancient citadel, take a sampan on a river through the rice paddies to the grottoes of the sacred Tam Coc Caves. Enormous limestone karsts jut out from the green rice fields giving rise to this place’s other name, ‘Halong on Land’. Picnic lunch is included. (L)
FULL DAY HOA BINH - OP 5 Drive to scenic Hoa Binh Province, 80km west of Hanoi. Visit a Muong minority village and enjoy a picnic lunch. Before going back to Hanoi, visit to the Dao minority. (L)
FULL DAY PERFUME PAGODA - OP 6 An interesting drive through the rich farming land of the Red River Delta to the Perfume Pagoda, one of northern Vietnam’s holiest sites. Take small sampans through a peaceful rural landscape of flooded rice fields to get to the pagoda complex. A picnic lunch is included. (L)
FULL DAY HO CHI MINH CITY - OP 7 Full day city tour of Ho Chi Minh City, still called Saigon by many locals. Visit the former Presidential Palace, Historical Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Saigon Post Office, war remnant museum, a lacquerware workshop, Thien Hau Pagoda and Binh Tay market in the city’s bustling Chinatown. HO CHI MINH CITY HALF DAY COOKERY CLASS - OP 8 Transfer to the Vietnam Cookery Centre in downtown Ho Chi Minh City for attending cookery class to learn the secrets of preparing some of Vietnam’s best-loved dishes. Preparation of typical dishes is demonstrated by the centre’s professional chef before participants prepare their own. At the end of the morning participants sit down to a lunch prepared by themselves. Each participant receives a manual and certificate on completion of the course. (L)
FULL DAY TAY NINH & CU CHI - OP 9 Drive through typical southern Vietnamese countryside to Tay Ninh Province in the west of Vietnam. Visit the Cao Dai Holly’ See, with a strange architecture where the major faiths of the world blend together in a unique religious style. Lunch at a local restaurant. Proceed to visit the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the long struggle for independence. (L)
FULL DAY MEKONG DELTA - OP 10 Full day excursion to the watery world of the Mekong Delta, just a couple of hours by road from the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City’s streets. Boat trip along narrow waterways overhung with dense vegetation and try exotic fruits in one of the many orchards. Lunch with the local delicacy, Elephant’s Ear Fish. (L)
HALF DAY CU CHI TOUR - OP 11 A half day trip to visit the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the long struggle for independence.
